The Monsters we Name

Name a monster some say and it's yours for life.

Many may never know it's true name or nature
yet they usually tend to make one up and ascribe
to it all the foul attributes of hell.

Why, they will be so proud of the monster they
have invented as to shout its direness from
the highest rooftops as they give it
a blanket so it doesn't catch
cold under their bed.

All the while the real monsters
slink and slyly wink as
you share a drink
with them over dinner
along with friendly banter
of the utmost esteem.

What is meant to Be

She’s a fiery one,
that Red, a true warrior,
if there ever was one to grace
my path.

She carries with her a lighted voice
honed by a heavy, passionate
empathetic, mystical heart
pumping true,
so be wary
of her tongue
when directed at you,
best you go run and hide little man
while you still can.

She won’t say sorry
when she feels the truth
of a moment deep in
her bones,
but all the same
when they turn away
not seeing their own blame,
she will shed a tear,
for every battle for her
against those she loves
is always a loss.

Apathy, ignorance, and
a darkness
sinks deeps within many
a soul she might call
friend or family, and it’s a
cold, cold day
when she has to
bring that kinship
to its’
final end.

The backlash cuts deep
shoves her
moves her
to stay,
to do,
to be heard
to fight
to show the world that
you can’t shut her up
She will tell you what you
need to hear.

It was always meant to be so for her,
for she has always
been a Warrior.

Desires of Red realized

IMG_20181207_225844_351

The ravaging of her
by me
is akin to a famished
man licking his plate clean,
then looking for more,
mouth open, and tongue tingling in anticipation
of feeding again on all the morsels
still not offered and hidden in
the closed secret cupboards of her that
are thrown open violently.
with a ravenous want
she heartedly
agrees in the taking of.

The thrill of her is
a fall of twelve thousand feet,
Plummeting, wind whipped by
a gravity of immense propositions
pulling me towards a
desirious body
that seeks my weight
to come crashing
into it,
only to  fall through and continue on
out the otherside
into her all over
again.
Forever falling.
Forever giving of everything
until our worlds
explode into
a thousand
times
a
thousand
colors
To slowly coalesce
into a calm
carressing
shade of vibrant
red
And a warm embrace.

First Day to Last

doubledutch

The hand moves on the clock

as the little girl skips down the block.

Sun up to sun down.

She laughs. and laughs, and laughs,

and sings in her heart.

Until one day the ground comes to meet

her head on.

Now, her trust in gravity is suddenly gone.

Yet, she still skips, but ever so hesitantly.

Just ever so, knowing the cost in her

lack of caution.

Her heart still sings

as she joins in a game

of Double Dutch.

The rope flies as her feet take flight.

But the other girls in their turning

are not nice,

as they

slow the speed of the spin

throwing off the girls rhythm

So once again, gravity brings

blood on a sidewalk and

scraped raw knees,

and a small wall.

On and on her days come and go,

the clock continually ticking

with the gravity of the Universe

never relenting.

Always there; spinning,

as this little girl still

continues to skip

and jump rope.

With that same song

deep within her heart

humming ever so slowly,

just ever so.

Mirage in You

What shall I say of the mirage in you.

Bright eyes, delicate soul,

with tenacious heart

beating,

Blood running, spilling.

(or was it alligator tears)

It wasn’t until I slipped, did I finallymirage

read the sign, “Be careful, wet floor.”

You think too much of yourself

and not nearly enough

All IN or ALL OUT.

Absolutes seem to be your trademark.

You are perfection.

You are lovely.

You are alone.

And you like it like that. ( no you don’t)

Mirages are only real to the person

observing, not the mirage  itself.

It knows its not real.

Then you

suddenly

disappeared.
