All the Happy that Comes

Happy is never
a permanent state of
mind.
More often than not
it isn’t there.
But it is there
at times.
Oh, most assuredly it
is there.
I feel it
smiling along side
a character in a book, or
lifted by that actor or actress
in a poignantly profound scene.
A hug from across a room by a
friend with just their eyes alone.
To be seen, truly seen when
I speak my words aloud
or write them down
for a stranger I have
never known.
Often times I am melancholy,
weighted, and in disarray
But a shared laugh or smile brings
me back home to me
in all the electric intimacy
life brings,
and I glow inside,
lightened and floating in
the midst of that connection.
Accomplishments, with mountains
climbed, my nature nourished
on the struggles conquered
and obstacles surmounted
that I never thought
would come to pass.
I’ve realized the Happy Comes
when I reach for it,
inviting it in to come
stay for just a bit
until it decides
to leave
and having faith it will
always be right around
the way
waiting to say
hello again.

The Feels

People either embrace the feels
or they fight against it.
Neither is wrong, and neither is
right.
It’s all just timing and circumstance.
Want or Need. Fight or Flight.
There is a glitch in us, for or
against, for whatever reason
we deem important in that slice
of time that it demands it of us.
We move mountains to attain it
or disengage from even the remoteness
of it happening in a flicker of an eyelash.
Fear and anxiety wells up within us
or an earnestness and compulsion
pulls us like a loadstone to the beautiful source
I have seen it in others…I have felt it from others
I have felt it in me.
You can do nothing to fight it.
Simple avoid or engage.
Yet, you need the feels in either aspect, in
the positive or the negative
in order to engage in life,
to be functional
You need that connection to the what-if
of the word or the now of it.
That connection no matter how
tenuous or deep meaning.
You choose your poison in the
dosage you yourself dole out.
I will choose my own and perhaps
we will in a future time
where both
our wills coincide.
Finally meet.

What’s to come?

Experts say humans have been on this Earth the length of only a fingernail in time, while the creatures long past, are dead and gone, extinct now forever. Yet they  lived a length a time measured from our shoulders all the way down our arms to the extension of our fingers to where we now sit and reside alive…. those creatures had their run for eons …we are just beginning ours….who’s to say what  comes after our own run is done.

I wonder what book the T-Rex read from telling him he was the greatest thing to walk the earth?

Balances in Extremes

balance

I’m sick of percentages.

I’m sick of numbers.

I just want to be.

Balance is a just a concept

It is not the key.

 Am I happy?

Am I sad?

Wait. Hmmm ..Let me do the math.

I’ll have a slice now please.

Wait. I can only have one?

Who the fuck made that rule?

Maybe I want another piece.

 Extremes seem the norm.

 Let me have my highs

My lows

Let me fuck it up and

make it up to you tonight

by giving you a rose.

The ratio of me to you and what

you mean to my heart cannot be

measured on scales or by a straight

edge ruler set against my life or

torn apart into segmented precise strips

and weighed in a cart to be sent

to auction and bartered for or bought.

 Balance is an illusion that

Fools embrace to make life

Safe and orderly and put in

its place.

I want to take that ride

Where nothing and everything is possible

And it’s okay…it’s okay

to be that way.

There is no balancing on the

head of a pin, no precarious perch

I have to lend my life to or

Prescribe to until the very

End.

Just let it be

Unfettered, unshackled

Free.

What is in that 2%

chimp-chess

Neil Degrasse Tyson, the American astrophysicist, cosmologist, author and consummate educator of all things Sciencey… 🙂 –   Stated that in regards to DNA,  chimpanzees, orangutans and gorillas share approximately 98% of our DNA.

OMG! Think about that  98% and that small difference he exclaimed!

Humans can do complex math, humans create and design great edifices, travel into space, perform surgeries, compose music, write books,  and create wonderful works of art…etc.

Chimps can be taught sign language, to count, perhaps to ride a bike,  or create rudimentary tools to accomplish a task. But that is where it ends for them. (does it? I ask)  That has been the height of their evolution. (is it? I ask)

He then went on to speculate and ask,  what is in that  2%  of our DNA that bestows these great intellectual gifts upon us humans yet denies the Chimp access to it?

What is in that 2% ?

He goes on further and asks what if we were to meet aliens from another planet and our situation was reversed.

What if we were the chimps and we had only 98% of DNA in common with that alien race?

How SMART would they be compared to us?  Our smartest Mathematicians on the planet would be drooling idiots next to their children coming out of 1st grade.  Their pre-school children would probably intuitively just know Algebra like our children know  1 +1 .

(That possible fact, if it were to be one, would shout that we are not as special in this universe as we like to think we are but I digress..)

What discoveries have they already made while we are still banging rocks on the ground to open a nut. Wonders I imagine, he speculates ( I am paraphrasing).

YES, a interesting concept BUT Neil never goes the other way in his thinking.

True they might know wondrous things, mysteries may be revealed to them beyond our chimp like comprehension.

BUT at what cost?

violence

How many wars have we waged on this planet? How much violence has  been done against another in the years we have lived together? We are the least savage and the most “civilized” and the smartest animal on this planet?

So what of those aliens. Does their intellect exceed their civility and universal morals ? Or does it keep pace?  Are they violent, bigoted, sexist, apathetic, a specist (yes that last one is an actual problem here on our planet).

My theory is that it’s a mixed bag by all probability. Meaning, one set of aliens out there are well adjusted and smart as hell and way above us intellectually but are very civilized and peaceful with very minimal violence towards themselves and their own planet.

While another alien race out there is smart as hell also but the most corrupt species and apathetic, greedy,  power hunger seeking race you will ever not want to encounter in your entire lifetime no matter the curiosity you might feel of wanting to know if life exists outside of our blue ball a planet. Keep them distant please, thank you very much.

WILL we get better ourselves. WILL our intellect still exceed our morality like it has for millennia after millennia. Will we end up that alien race that goes out one day into the galaxy like Columbus sailing from the shore of Espana to the West Indies claiming lands in the name of Queen Isabella subjugating, raping , enslaving, and killing the locals?

I would like to think not….but meh..who knows…I am always surprised on a daily basis at what depravity exists in our world on Earth.

Time will tell if our DNA wins over our hearts and tells us if that 2% makes us better or worse.

The many flavors of little girl/boy lost

Foot

Therapists say the core of us, from the defining moments of our youth, make up a great part of how we see ours lives throughout our whole existence through and into  our growing “adulthood”  until the day we die.

We all walk a path, and that path we walk  sprung up to meet us whether we know it or not. Some have found that magical path and place among the trees where they know peace and a solid foundation under their feet as they tread a world still alien.

Most are not so fortunate whether you think they are or not.

Some of us walk it in seeming surety, with one foot right after the other; having all the answers to life at our lips and the tips of fingertips based on what came before.  Those types outright scoff at times at those who don’t know all the answers or have it all together.  They can truly be arrogant bastards; ridiculing the “underclassmen”  saying they will never catch up.

((Secretly)) they know they do not know everything;  no matter what they say. I have to imagine, that need in itself, to have to be sure all the time; it must drive them mad when their world falls apart at not knowing the answers when push comes to shove in their lives.

I truly do feel sorry for some of them.  For I do believe that type of arrogance is needed in the world to get things done. Else many of us would be sitting on our hands saying woe is me and nothing else. But these types must pay the price at times when the chaos finds them in their own mind.  For no one must see them weak you know.

Others  of us walk in a  meandering, stumbling,  almost drunken course down a  path where our footing is anything but sure.   Always needing that tree to lean on,  or that bush off the road to vomit up our urges and failings behind.

Yet, still they walk, for their is a determination in their lives that drives their legs into motion. They are not comatose. They are not in a vegetative state. They breath, they exhale, and they bring in life and let it out in small amounts.  They evolve in their own course;  through the volitions of some inner or external force which they cannot place,  but it drives them, much like the arrogant ones above, that have already embraced a reality and be damned to anyone who stand in their way.

What else can they do in life but to try?  And besides, they can’t look weak ; not to the  arrogant ones that depend on them to prop them up from time to time when they speak.

Finally, there is that brow beaten soul. That lower than low. The one that goes home to sleep and sleep and dream and dream until the day has disappeared and night encapsulates and settles the debate of who has won that day,  life or him or her.

They will not choose to try again the next day nor the next.  Woe are they, to not even attempt. For that voice that once shouted has been muffled and thrown into a cage of the finest steel made.  Never to be let out, never to be fed or watered, but instead to let whither and die in a lonely cage bound with a strength they gave away.

All because they believed they reached some end.  Some place in their  life they could not rectify, or redeem. Never realizing life is impartial, life goes on.  So go on, life says go on, and don’t be afraid to look weak and go on.

Be that person you lied to yourself about that you told you could not be. This is a lesson for all three of you who walk the path you think you should.

See…the path before you.  Just let yourself  simply really truly see.

Perhaps the Dream is dreaming me

I stroll this earth in all my Fragile trodding  from point A to Point B.  Clip Clopping in and out of the lives  of others.  My footfalls echo off their souls and their smiles which always seem to gradually fade.

But never mind me,  just let it rain all around this person I call I, which was  placed in this time, upon this big space by unseen hands, holy or not. Forgotten or not. I am here and that’s a good thing.

“Truth hits everybody, ” I heard her say,  as she walked on by,  and I could see the Hole in my Life in her words as she pushed her cart on down the street and rounded the corner leaving me to think on things too much. I have much yet do. Much more compels.

So Lonely you think I be?   Not hardly,  for I see others just as desperate as me trying to flee this dream. Stay oh rats!  Stay. This is a grand ship! Let’s share a piece of cheese!

I pass a bakery and smell the sweet aroma of cinnamon and raspberry and it makes me Hungry for you and brings me to Once upon a daydream thinking of that when of  wanting you to Be my girl, Sally , or whatever your name was back then.

Seven days was all it took to create this place so they say. Perhaps whoever did it should have taken just a little more time and perhaps, just perhaps, there might have been just a little less pain involved for us all. Ah I digress, I always do.

When the world is running down like the so called pundits and arm chair philosophers like to speculate about, I recall all the lost Sallys, and the sweet smells, and all the rain that I have tread in and I can only smile. Because those are my memories, my experiences and they may not be here tomorrow. No matter how bad they were, or good…they are mine and mine alone and I treasure that.

That’s the shape of my heart on the matter. So I continue to dream this dream.

God,gods, religion and aliens…take your pick

I recently read a blog post entitled Intelligence vs Faith,  from someone named  Thomas M. Watt, whom I follow. He basically asked his audience  would you find faith and believe in God and  turn from being an Atheist if planet Earth was attacked , enslaved and taken over by  a godless alien race in just one day? (why one day is a modifier in this scenario I don’t know)  Now being a writer I was intrigued by the question so my “what-if” wheels started spinning on the question.  Here is my rant on gods, God , religion and aliens…:)

invasion-ovni-430vm030311

Every race has  some form  of  a god or gods…even an alien race…I am betting with 99.99999% surety that there are alien races out there who have their own gods and their own “bible” . Some are probably  war mongers who want to attack other alien races and subjugate them  and others are peaceful enough  to just want to explore and learn from the other races and perhaps even want to help them.  Just as there are extremes and factions in our own humankind there must be on other alien worlds.   We as humans ARE special BUT we are not as special as soooo many people on this planet make us out to be.

We are NOT one of a kind. Your question tells me that you think we are  THAT special  that “our” god  (like if there is truly a god he couldn’t have more than one planet . one galaxy, or one universe to manage under his umbrella). If GOD is as we say so omnipresent and all knowing and all powerful why would he Give PLANET A   any special favors over PLANET B… maybe he loves them both (or  hates them both)  equally and wants them to learn from their mistakes of attacking an entire planet and enslaving them.

This has happened on our own planet on a smaller scale over thousands of years and a god has never intervened  (as far as I can see)  to stop it.  It just gradually got better and the situation went away through our own human compassion and moral compass pointing us in the right direction.

ancient aliens - rh negative - anunnaki

And what does a god care about scale anyway?  Hundreds, thousands, millions, billions, trillions….they could all die an instant and I think it would feel the same to that god… (just conjecture of course. I never assume I know what a person  is thinking…even a god…:)    (even though everyone else seems to know) I personally don’t want to worship anything or anyone….respect yes….take advice from yes…love maybe  even…but not worship.

To me all gods are those asshole friends who never come around to say hello or give advice or listen to your problems or help move your shit when your moving out of your apartment.

I say, Show up ,  get your hands dirty with me….laugh with me… toil with me …let me know your in it with me and you care…then I might like ya just a little bit…then maybe  I will call ya friend…but worship you no… I would sooner worship my cat…

(This is just one man’s opinion and feelings on the matter. For what that is worth as there are 7.2 Billion people on this planet with their own as well.)
