Haiku to you too!

PlayfulHand
Awake yet I dream
Shadows play and ponder why
I stay and slumber
Donjuan
My lips form a smile
as your hand trembles in mine.
My claim has been staked .
Headlight
Disconnect me please
the pace of the world distracts
I wish to relate.
bloodhands
Laid open palm stings,
as red pools in the shallows,
heart drips to the floor
BlackWhite
Lies wander to truth
as the center shakes off pleas
to honest deceit.

Quote of the Day – Perfect

In the cold dead of winter, the homeless man on the city bus yelled out as he sat. “Happiness is a nice warm bus!”  I thought idly, how perfect is that?

Happy Accident – A poem by Philip Wardlow

Happy Accident

Everything and anything

could have been that day,

yet I was there sitting in that place,

in that small little space,

in that time, that moment

plucked with you in

mind.

A hello, a smile, a small question

to catch my eye.

 My attention never wavered…as something,

yes something…told me

there was more  to this meeting,

than just

the  casual.

You were my Happy Accident

if I only chose

to embrace it.

The Heart is a Lonely Hunter – A Poem (inspired by a novel of the same name)

Sleeping Beauty

The Heart is a Lonely Hunter

I am but a dark silhouette back-lit

by your imaginings of what I must be.

My frame of reference is not yours,

nor is your own mine to see.

I cannot hope to know the true depth

of the strangeness that lurks behind those eyes;

the sadness, the desperation, and the longing

cannot be accurately defined as simply measured

by a ruler or thrown upon a scale like a piece

of meat.

Think me misguided, corrupt, or lost?

Think me a friend, lover, or a hero?

You would be wrong on all accounts.

I am simply a solitary soul cast adrift,

striving to find a good home to lift

me up from this cold stone floor and prop

me up next to a nice warm fire and hold

me tight.

My NOW PHILisophy…

The NOW only happens once, seize the NOW before it goes away never to return.

If you miss that NOW, know that a new NOW may  present itself but you must be ready and spring upon it with claws extended because you are pushing the odds my friend.

If you find yourself in a NOW moment, slow down, taste it, relish it and remember it wholly wrapping yourself up in it like a blanket.

Don’t be afraid of the NOW; embrace it like all challenges that life flings at you  wrapped in that loathsome word called fear.

Above all, NOW is in you  whether you know it or not. You just have to let it come out and play…:)

If She’s amazing – Quote of the week by Bob Marley

“If she’s amazing, she won’t be easy. If she’s easy, she won’t be amazing. If she’s worth it, you wont give up. If you give up, you’re not worthy. … Truth is, everybody is going to hurt you; you just gotta find the ones worth suffering for.”

Love you babe  – Happy 17th Anniversary!!

Alchemy

Alchemy

I’m trying to capture

a lit bit of magic.

Distill out the mundane,

filter out the impurities,

and infuse a little energy

into this tired body and brain.

You have always been that

catalyst, that additive, that chemical,

or heat to speed the reaction.

Give me just a dash of you and

I will change this lead to gold

or this chunk of coal

to a diamond that

sparkles like your

eyes do.

Your kiss may be the final

ingredient  to the elixir of life

that I have long sought.

Oh how elusive that magic is

at being caught

and wrangled like

lightning in a bottle.

But I am an alchemist, and

with my books, my bottles, my studies

my mythos, my faith, and you…

I shall wrestle with the five mysteries of life;

air, earth, fire, water, and the

elusive aether…

and condense their natures down into

a malleable creature from which

I can ride with you into the night.

The Whole – A poem about trying to understand your place in life

The Whole

All of us in this world

are made up of bits and pieces.

The failure of a father, the loving

kiss of a mother, the slap to the face,

the hug when most needed, the stomp

to the head, the shove in the right direction,

the mysteries from out of the elusive aether.

Puzzle pieces from an endless box

are continuously being dumped on to our table top

of life that you must pick up

and put together to form

a solid picture from.

Place your pieces carefully one at a time

into the spaces that fit.

Dwell not on the picture you think you see forming,

for it is an illusion, a trick

most dire to the eye and mind.

Your puzzle is not yet finished,

if it ever can be,

for how are we

to ever know

the whole.

when so many

pieces have

yet to be

placed.
