It’s Complicated – a Poem

Chess

It’s Complicated –

Sink or swim.

Hundred pound of feathers,

or a hundred pounds of lead?

Doggy paddle or breast stroke?

Doesn’t fucking matter, she says

My daddies got a motor boat.

I just smile and flick my ashes

in her drink,

and keep on walking.

You see it’s complicated,

this you and me thing.

My chemistry is mangled compared to

yours and there is no untangling

such a goddam chore

of a life you take

for granted.

You don’t see.

For me, it’s complicated,

like chess, or Risk

It’s far from fucking checkers

dear.

A game, is a game, is a game

and it could be fun,

This you and me.

It’s complicated.

For every game big or small

has got its rules but sadly

you never learned to read.

See Her – A Poem

Brightshadow

See Her –

She sits in silent reflection

staring out a window she can’t see through,

wondering at the days of

misfortune the world has heaped upon her.

“I am pretty aren’t I”, she asks

Her hips have just the right amount of flare,

Her breasts are well rounded,

her eyes are deep and mysterious as the night

is long.

She can turn a phrase and engage in interesting conversation

just as well as the  next.

So why, why, why…

Does “that guy”  not see her.

Find interest,

or get her.

Perhaps she dwells too much in the shadows

they cast and not in her own

light.

My Heart and the Alien – A Poem

fourchambers

My Heart and the Alien –

I have a four chambered heart much like most everyone else,

I am a nerd in one heart,

a romantic in the next,

a perv in the third,

a  dreamer in the last.

I am fading into your moody blue alien eyes.

as the cold night embraces an already

cold day.

All the chambers of my heart smile

back at you.

And beat with an unnatural warmth not

found on this earth.

You don’t belong here on this world,

and you are soon to leave.

Forever.

For that reason alone, I wish the

the sections of my heart would quiet itself

Each beat in quarter time to a tune

I do not recognize anymore since your

presence came to town.

Please leave soon on the next

spaceship out.

My heart is at war

and may soon burn it

self up.

Take to the stars, and then

and only then, can

my heart look to

them without doubt.

Haikus – The many moods of me – by Philip Wardlow

Black wings paint the sky amongst them I fly freely No ground to hold me.
Black wings paint the sky
amongst them I fly freely
No ground to hold me.
Windows divide me from worlds I have brushed against clear and newly cleaned.
Windows divide me
from worlds I have brushed against
clear and newly cleaned.
Fuck off you fucker My middle finger gives cue to whisper screw you
Fuck off you fucker
My middle finger gives cue
to whisper screw you
Flaming red dress twirls as my world revolves around my eyes on your hips
Flaming red dress twirls
as my world revolves around
my eyes on your hips
I hand you a rose, because your beauty demands it of my lost soul.
I hand you a rose,
because your beauty demands
it of my lost soul.
Erotic mischief, from a smile, kiss, to caress A peek at my heart.
Erotic mischief,
from a smile, kiss, to caress
A peek at my heart.
Meditative space Peace in a vacuum of words Abandons the day
Meditative space
Peace in a vacuum of words
Abandons the day
Fists of fury coming A terrible tidal wave of pure savagery
Fists of fury coming
A terrible tidal wave
of pure savagery
Beauty and sorrow Intertwined, a mosaic of feelings unbound.
Beauty and sorrow
Intertwined, a mosaic
of feelings unbound.
Mister Monster gripes dismal days stretch forever as the coffee cools.
Mister Monster gripes
dismal days stretch forever
as the coffee cools.
My soul exploded dipped in the frigid waters of a warm welcome.
My soul exploded
dipped in the frigid waters
of a warm welcome.

Love

Allowing ourselves to let love in, is the hardest thing in life to do.

Random Life Musings that Meander…

Atlas

The ease with which I do some things may be in turn a struggle for others,

so perhaps its a selective struggle I live  for the obstacles I choose to face.

Life in Death – 30 Day Halloween Poem Challenge- Poem#27

SkeletonLight

Death appreciates life , just as life appreciates death.

Both are impartial to the other.

A cold touch caresses the

beauty which flits to and fro

with seemingly

chaotic intention.

How are we are to interpret the horrors of this vitality

when we ourselves are trapped in a purgatory

of our own design?

Perhaps a small light

shall lead the way for each of us

in our final hours as we lay

in our deep dark

grave.
